Friends on Friday - Jacqueline Gwynne

My first Friends on Friday for this year is a talented Aussie lassie called Jacqueline Gwynne She lives in my future home town. I find her work bright, colourful, unique and mischievous in a good way. I hope to see more of it.

Jacqueline is a Melbourne based illustrator and artist. She has completed a Bachelor of Illustration, a Bachelor of Visual Art majoring in printmaking and a Diploma of Graphic Arts.

Specialising in portraiture, Jacqueline’s style is inspired by pop and comic art. Art and illustrations have appeared on CD covers, music and educational graphics.

She takes time out from illustration to teach visual arts, exhibit and participate in public art. A graphic novel is currently in production.

Céleste Boursier-Mougenot

I was lucky enough to spend the day with my husband at 21st Century: Art in the First Decade currently showing here at GOMA in Brisbane. I had seen snippets of this artist's work before. We had no idea what we were walking into as we were just told only a few people, a security guy handed us a pass and told us not to take photos or touch anything. We also had not seen the title on the wall yet.

My jaw dropped as we walked in. The first thing I layed eyes was a whole heap of wire coathangers in four spots suspended from the ceiling. Then I notice that there were a flock of Gouldian and some other varities of colourful finches flying happily between the installations. So it has prompted me to find some other works by this artist.
